My, Mai.

Once in a while, if you're a very lucky designer, you get a dream client. What makes Mai so dreamy? Hm, let me run down my wish list: stylish in a totally personal way, sweet natured, confident, full of fun and brimming over with great ideas.
When Mai first described all of her ensemble (I'm responsible for the dress, sash and organza shrug), I wondered how her bright flowers, hair accessory by Twigs & Honey and her shoes (you can't see them in these photos but they were these, if I recall) would work together. All I can say is, Mai knows what she knows. So! Fun! Thanks, Mai! I loved working with you.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

With Valentine's Day rounding out the most popular days to get engaged in what the wedding industry calls "engagement season" (Christmas Eve/Day and New Year's Eve/Day of course being the other favourites) Viva la wedding would like to send out a big CONGRATULATIONS to all the couples getting engaged today!!

And to Viva's couples past, present, and future along with all our fabulous wedding vendors we're absolutely in love with because they help us make our couples' dreams come true... Happy Valentine's Day!!

LOVE QUOTES

Love is in the air! How can it not be? With so many recent engagements taking place over the winter holidays and the many more that came with Valentine’s Day, there isn’t a time of year more about love. To celebrate, Viva thought we’d dedicate a post to love. More specifically, quotes about love. Whether you use them on your invitations, ceremony programs, guest favor tags, or in a toast to your new husband/wife there’s always room for a love quote at your wedding. Here are some of Viva’s faves...

When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. ~When Harry Met Sally

I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance. A church filled with family and friends. I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for. He said one that would make me his wife.

You don't marry someone you can live with, you marry the person who you cannot live without.

Trip over love, you can get up. Fall in love and you fall forever.

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

You know you’re in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. ~Dr Seuss

Love one another and you will be happy. It’s as simple and as difficult as that.

A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. ~Mignon McLaughlin

If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day so I never have to live without you. ~Winnie the Pooh

The spaces between your fingers were created so that another’s could fill them in.

THANK YOU {and first glimpses}

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday for A Novel Romance, The English Dept.'s annual bridal fashion show. We had a packed house, pretty flowers, mimosas, cute models in neon stockings--really, I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday (Superbowl notwithstanding). We should have "official" pics within a few days, but meanwhile, Leela passed along these really cool Diana camera photos! Enjoy.

WEDDING DRESS WEDNESDAY

I know how absurd it sounds for a wedding planner to say this but... Viva never understood a bride's attachment to her wedding gown. Don't get me wrong, it was always exciting to hear one of Viva's brides-to-be describe her dream dress, see her fill with emotion when finding "the one" and jaw droping to see her glowing in it on her wedding day, but why all this fuss over a dress? Then... Viva got married. And yes (two and a half years later) my beautiful Mikaela gown is still hanging in my closet, my attachment to it making it impossible for me to let it go. Since getting married, not only did I gain a new appreciation for the relationship between a bride and her wedding gown, but I just can't get enough of them! And that's why Wedding Dress Wednesday posts now appear each month on the blog.

This month we're featuring not one, but two dresses from White on White Bridal. We tried to choose just one but we love this line so much, we failed miserably. The first is Kelly WWG302 made of silk/organza, the second also made of silk/organza is Carolyn WWG316. The White on White line can be found in Ottawa exclusively at With Love Bridal Boutique and starting today, February 1st until February 5th, you can view the entire 2011 Spring Collection in store. Here's Dana of With Love to tell you more...

"We are excited to be Ottawa's exclusive retailer of White on White Bridal. These super feminine and modern gowns are the perfect addition to our boutique. Not only are these dresses absolutely gorgeous, but they carry an easy to swallow price tag. These dresses range from $1200 to $2300 and many styles give Brides the option to choose a tafetta or silk fabric to suit their budget. The entire collection will be in our store as we offer the White on White Trunk Show from February 1st to 5th. Our samples will be arriving mid month, but the Trunk Show offers Brides-to-Be an opportunity to view the entire collection."

Only five days ladies so contact With Love and book your appointment to see these beauties before it's too late!
